About TRON

TRON is a blockchain platform focused on content sharing and high-throughput applications, with very low transaction fees. Its native token, TRX, is used for payments and to power decentralized apps on the network.
TRON was founded in 2017 by Justin Sun, a prominent and often controversial entrepreneur, initially as a token on Ethereum before launching its own blockchain in 2018. The TRON Foundation later acquired BitTorrent, bringing the popular file-sharing protocol into its ecosystem, and the network has since positioned itself as a low-cost settlement layer.
TRON uses a delegated proof-of-stake system where TRX holders vote for 27 entities known as super representatives, who take turns producing blocks. This design allows fast confirmation times and very low fees. Users can freeze TRX to gain bandwidth and energy, resources that let them transact on the network at little or no cost.
TRX pays for transactions and powers applications on the TRON network, but the chain's most significant real-world role is as one of the largest settlement rails for the USDT stablecoin, particularly in Asia, where its low fees make it popular for transfers. TRX is also used for staking, governance voting, and within TRON's DeFi ecosystem.
