About RAY
Raydium is a decentralized exchange and liquidity provider built on Solana, letting users trade tokens and supply liquidity while also integrating with the Solana order book. Its token, RAY, is used for governance and rewards.
Raydium launched in February 2021 as one of the first major automated market makers built on Solana, created by an anonymous team, and quickly became one of the busiest decentralized exchanges on the network.
Raydium combines a traditional automated market maker model with integration into Solana's central order book, allowing its liquidity pools to also provide depth to other applications on the network. It became especially prominent as a launchpad and trading venue for new Solana tokens, including many memecoins.
RAY is used for governance, staking, and providing liquidity across Raydium's pools, and the protocol shares a portion of trading fees with RAY stakers. Its fortunes are closely tied to overall trading activity and new token launches on the Solana network.
