About KAS

Kaspa is a proof-of-work blockchain designed to process many blocks in parallel rather than one at a time, aiming for much faster confirmation times than older blockchains while keeping mining decentralized. Its token is KAS.
Kaspa was launched in 2021 by Yonatan Sompolinsky, a cryptography researcher who co-authored some of the earliest academic work on scaling Bitcoin-style blockchains, together with Shai Wyborski and Michael Sutton. It has no company or foundation controlling it and no pre-mine, distributing coins purely through mining from day one.
Kaspa is built on GHOSTDAG, a protocol that lets multiple blocks be created in parallel and then orders them into a coherent history, rather than discarding all but one competing block the way traditional blockchains do. This lets Kaspa produce blocks roughly once per second while still remaining secure, aiming to combine Bitcoin-level decentralization with far higher throughput.
KAS is mined through proof of work and used for fast, low-fee payments and value transfer. Because block production is so rapid, transactions confirm far quicker than on most proof-of-work chains, and the project has attracted a dedicated mining and holder community drawn to its from-scratch, no-premine launch.
